Early Childhood Systems Building Graphic
This project was a significant achievement
for the communications team at BUILD. It was the first step we took as an organization to unravel systems messaging.

Early childhood systems work has evolved significantly in the past 20 years, with deeper attention to race, quality, the early care and education workforce, (and more) as issues that need to be named and rebuilt. The original early childhood systems graphic was short-sighted (and ugly), while the new graphic gives a clear definition of what BUILD means by early childhood systems.
The win for this project was in getting a verbose description into a graphic that was accessible, on brand, and on message with how BUILD talks about the work.

Early Childhood Systems Graphic (Original)
The original systems graphic was very high-level and did not call out any of the specific elements that are critical in a supportive early childhood system.

Complex Systems Landscape
This graphic is an update to the systems landscape graphic (below). This update uses fewer (and legible) words and simple icons to help the viewer through the complexities of systems.

Complex Systems Landscape (Original)
This graphic was designed to convey just how complex the systems landscape is.
It is successful in conveying that message, but almost none of the copy is legible, and there is too much information to take away anything other than:
systems are hard to deal with.
